I began my career as a performer and traveled extensively as a musician before falling in love with teaching. My organizational and management skills led me into administration as well, and after I finished my doctoral coursework I began teaching for Chapman University and helped to manage and teach on the faculty of OperaWorks, an internationally-recognized performance training program. I was still performing as well, and I had taken up painting while pursuing my doctorate, so I had quite a bit on my plate. Too much, in fact, and so I resigned from my management post and remained on the faculty of OperaWorks, where I am proud to have taught performance techniques, audition techniques, and marketing for nine years.

In my almost twenty years of teaching, I've noticed a recurring pattern: people crave information and want to improve, and yet they either don't know how to get what they need or don't really know what to do with the information once they have it. I have spent thousands of hours consulting with performers on how to take the information they received and use it to create organized, inspiring, and individualized plans to get things done and get closer to attaining their goals. I've also been a provider of a lot of that information as well.

I believe that we all have to start somewhere, and there's no shame in not having yourself "together" when you're in need of help - at one point (even if that point for you is now) everyone was in a place of starting out, starting over, or not knowing what to do or how to procede. In fact, every successful person has a team of some sort; so if you are struggling, perhaps you are just missing a part of your team!
